Why Artists are Fed Up with AI Art by SamDoesArts

I have a feeling that we are going to see a lot more discussions and debates about artificial intelligence in the future (I’m already sick of it). It’s a topic that is both intriguing and unsettling at the same time. As an artist, mainly a hobbyist, this subject is of particular interest to me, especially for those artists that I support and admire who depend on their art to pay their rent and provide for their families. And for the new generation of artists, that feels completely hopeless. I work in web development, and while I may not be affected by the rise of AI in my field right now, I can see how it might impact it in the future (Hi, Chat GPT). It’s clear that we will all face challenges in the coming years as we try to adapt to and keep up with the rapid pace of technological change.

Despite these challenges, I am a strong believer in the potential benefits of technological advancement, as long as it is done in a way that is respectful to human beings and fair. In a recent video, Samdoesart (Sam Yang) explains in a clear, accessible, and calm manner how the use of AI to generate images can present problems. I encourage you to watch this video with an open mind and consider the points raised. I will also be adding a list of sources and tools mentioned in the video, as well as additional articles from my own selection that I believe are relevant to this topic.
