Review: Huion Kamvas Pro 16 Plus 4K: Worth the Investment?

Hey there! Huion has come out with their very first 4K UHD resolution pen displays, the Kamvas Pro 16 (4K) and Kamvas Pro 16 Plus (4K). They also have a 24 inch versions, but I don’t have one of those so I won’t be reviewing them in this article. I do have the 16 inch model though and I’m hoping to upgrade to a bigger size in the future and give it a review. These displays have a super high resolution of 3840 x 2160, which puts Huion on the same level as their competitor Wacom. It’s likely that other companies will join in and release their own 4K displays in the future as well.

So, I’ve had the Plus model for over 2 years now, and I feel like I’ve had enough time to really get to know it and give a detailed review as a digital artist. I am not sponsored, I’ll try to be as helpful as possible and definitely give my honest opinion. I hope this helps anyone who’s considering getting it and wants to see if it might be a good fit for their workflow.

The Screen

The screen is truly amazing. Its 4K resolution allows for such incredible detail and accuracy when creating art. The use of quantum dot technology also takes the already impressive colors to the next level. While there isn’t much to criticize about this screen, one potential issue to consider is that the maximum brightness level might not be enough in certain lighting conditions. Additionally, when using the stylus with brand-new nibs, the friction between the nib and the tablet might feel uncomfortable for the first 10 minutes of use. However, it’s worth noting that the screen is fully laminated and has a special treatment to reduce distractions like reflections and blue light, which makes it easier to use for long periods without causing eye strain. It feels amazing when drawing, I love to slide on screen, there is a very satisfying feeling when using it. Overall, this is a fantastic screen for any digital artist.

In Use

During use, the Huion Kamvas Pro tablet performs exceptionally well with very little to no parallax. The convenience of only having one cable connected to the tablet via USB-C helps to avoid desk clutter, although a 3-to-1 cable is included if your computer doesn’t have a USB-C port. This tablet is also suitable for both left and right-handed users as it can be flipped and the display can be adjusted through the driver. The driver itself is user-friendly and effective, allowing for easy access to the tablet’s menu and the ability to make changes to settings like color temperature and brightness in real-time while drawing. The included stand is lightweight and compact, allowing for various inclinations while taking up minimal space on your desk. However, the cables may be a bit short in length and the stand might not always hold the tablet securely in certain positions. Overall, the screen’s high quality is evident in the enjoyable feeling of use and the reduced reflections that make the drawing experience more comfortable.

The Stylus

The Huion Kamvas Pro 16 Plus 4K screen comes with the PW 517 stylus, which is Huion’s top-of-the-line model. It uses Pen Tech 3.0 technology that allows it to operate without a battery, which greatly improves its accuracy and sensitivity. The stylus can react to up to 60 degrees of inclination and detect 8192 different levels of pressure, providing a drawing experience that’s similar to traditional methods on canvas or paper. This makes it a fantastic choice for artists who want a stylus that can really capture the nuances of their work. 2 years with and nothing but good things to say about it.

My Thoughts

The Huion Kamvas Pro 16 Plus 4K Pen Display is an amazing graphics tablet that is totally worth the price in the high-end range. Its 4K UHD resolution is super sharp and provides incredible detail, although you’ll want to make sure your computer can handle it smoothly. When compared to other tablets in its class, the Kamvas Pro 16 Plus 4K has a top-notch screen and a driver that’s super easy to use. While there are a few minor issues to keep in mind, like the maximum brightness level and the initial friction of the stylus nibs, these don’t really affect the overall performance of the tablet. All in all, the Kamvas Pro 16 Plus 4K is the best 16-inch high-end tablet for drawing or any other artistic activity that can benefit from its features. If you’re an artist looking for a top-quality tablet, this is definitely worth checking out!

Price

You can find this graphics tablet at €829 on the brand’s official website. Despite this €100 difference with its direct competitor, the Xp-Pen artist pro 16 TP, it is far superior in terms of quality-price ratio. However, at this price it is a graphics tablet reserved for professionals or particularly passionate people. You can find the Kamvas pro 16 plus 4K on this page. You can also find the Kamvas pro 16 4K classic on the same page, which has the main difference of offering 120% of sRGB space instead of 145%, but which costs €100 less.
