Here’s my take on Tifa Lockhart from Final Fantasy 7. I played the original as a kid and it’s still one of my favorite video game experiences. I enjoyed FF7 Remake and Rebirth even more. The nostalgia hit very strongly when I play it. I have a sketch of Cloud ready, and I plan to draw Aerith too.
This one wasn’t easy to draw at all. I stepped a little bit outside my comfort zone of drawing portraits and tried a complex pose. It’s not perfect, but we are getting better, and that’s all that matters to me.

Are you sick of the Instagram algorithm?
I sure was. When my passion for art came back in early 2022, I was excited. I wanted to start fresh, learn everything that could improve my art. I bought courses, learned the fundamentals. My goal? Just to enjoy doing art as much as I did when I was a kid, without pressure, expressing myself freely. Then I started posting on Instagram and sharing pictures. It didn’t end well.
At some point, I felt like I was doing a double job on top of the one I already had. If we’re not consistent, we get punished with less reach. Our followers and non-followers miss our posts. We end up devaluing ourselves and our craft just because of a lack of likes. As soon as it started affecting me, I left and focused on different things.
I didn’t post anything for the whole year of 2023. First, because I didn’t have time to draw because of my job the first six months. Then, because I wanted to draw what I truly loved, what I was really passionate about. I changed my style to better fit what I envisioned for myself as a teenager, not to mimic popular artists on social media.
I’m glad I did. It changed the way I draw and how much I enjoy making art. Going for a manga style may not be taken very seriously in the elitist art world, but I’m sure I can create in my own way, express new things, and bring value or inspire people. I’d rather chase this goal than likes.
I’ll try my best to promote myself (I’m not naive!), I want to make a living out of it someday. But I won’t try so hard that I lose my passion for art again and it feels like a chore. Don’t make content for robots. Do it for yourself and the humans you can connect with.

Another Tribute to Akira Toryama.
Dug up this old Android 18 sketch… Been meaning to finish it for ages, but you know how it goes. Then I saw the news about Akira Toriyama and knew it was time to give her the justice she deserves. I was a bit in a hurry for the last one, I gave my best on this one.
I always liked Android 18 as a kid, she was really charismatic and stylish (the way she humiliated Vegeta, I’ll never forget) specially in the Oav « The story of trunks ». Legendary.
Rest in peace, Mr. Toriyama, for all the epic adventures and awesome characters.

I know I said two weeks ago that I would do Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s art, it’s coming soon!

This drawing was inspired by the amazing work of Ilya Kuvshinov @kuvshinov_ilya, a Russian illustrator who created the character designs for Ghost in the Shell: SAC 2045 and The Wonderland. I discovered his art on Deviantart in 2015, and I was blown away by his anime style, his use of light and shadows, and his expressive faces. I wanted to learn from his techniques and improve my own style. He is one of my favorite artists and a huge inspiration for me. I hope you can see his subtle influence in this drawing and appreciate his talent as much as I do.
